"Streets and Canals in Venice 15"

Black and white plate from 'Streets and Canals in Venice and in the Islands of the Lagoons'.

Plate 15 includes the following note in the book's annex: "MADDALENA RIO or Canale at Saints Ermagora and Fortunato's. - The little church in the back-ground, now the Oratory of S Mary Magdalen, or Maddalena, was rebuilt by the architect Temanza in the second half of last century. The ancient church had been built in 1222; the bell-tower was demolished in 1881."
